Blast into READING! 

Puke Ariki and Community Libraries are giving away weekly prizes during our summer reading programme “Blast into Reading” where we're encouraging kids to keep up their reading over the school holidays.

Registered children will receive a Summer Reading Booklet to help them check in each week at their local library and track their summer reading progress.

Prizes up for grabs include vouchers for local book shops and some surprise Grand Prizes that will be handed out at the end of the promotion period.

How to get the kids involved: 

  • Entrants will need to register for the programme at their local library. Registration opens on 5 December 2022 for ages 5-12 years.
  • Entrants will receive a summer reading booklet where they can keep track of their reading. They will need to check in at their local library so we can track their progress and make sure they're in the draw to win weekly prizes.
  • Entrants must have visited the library the previous week to take part in the prize draw.
  • Completed entries must include parent/guardian contact details and be returned to Puke Ariki or any Community Library during the weekly periods.
  • Prizes will be drawn on Friday mornings, 23 and 30 December 2022, and Saturday mornings 7, 14, 21, and 28 January 2023.
  • Grand prizes will be drawn for those who have done four check-ins by 1 February 2023.
  • Visit your local library to learn more and encourage your kids or students to keep-up reading over the summer!

Terms and conditions

 

  1. New Plymouth District Council, through Puke Ariki (the Council) is giving away weekly prizes for reading during our summer reading programme “Blast into Reading”.
  2. Children aged 5 years and over are invited to take part in the “Blast into Reading” reading programme.
    • Entrants will record their reading in the “Blast into Reading” booklet and visit their local library to ‘check in’ with the librarians.
    • Entrants must have visited the library the previous week to take part in the prize draw.
    • Prizes will be drawn on Friday mornings, 23 and 30 December 2022; and Saturday mornings 7, 14, 21, and 28 January 2023.
    • Grand prizes will be drawn for those who have done 4 check ins on 1 February 2023.
  3. Weekly prizes will include $20 vouchers for Whitcoulls or Poppies Book Shop. Grand prizes TBC.
  4. Entry is open to children aged 5-12 years.
  5. Registration opens on 5 December 2022.
  6. The programme will run for 6 weeks from Saturday 17 December 2022 – Friday 27 January 2023. Completed entries must include parent/guardian contact details and be returned to Puke Ariki or any Community Library during the weekly periods 17-23 December, 24-30 December, 31 December - 6 January, 7-13 January, 14-20 January, 21-27 January (Promotion Period). Entries received after the Promotion Period will not be eligible for the prize draws.
  7. Prize draws will be held at Puke Ariki and each Community Library on Friday mornings, 23 & 30 December 2022; and Saturday mornings 7, 14, 21, and 28 January 2023.
  8. Grand prize draws will take place on 1 February 2023. There will be one in each participating library.
  9. The winners will be contacted by or before Friday 3 February 2023. If the Council is unable to make contact with a winner after three attempts, they will be entitled to select another winner.
